The Edale Skyline is a brilliant Peak District challenge, but you need to do some serious training before you take on the challenge!
This 20-mile/32 km route takes you up above the Hope Valley and around the hills surrounding Edale village which is nestled between them. It’s a tough hike with great views if the weather is behaving!
Guided walk
This is a ‘Guided Walk’ led by a qualified Mountain Leader, who has completed the Edale Skyline hike numerous times.
As the hike is a BIG one, our pace for the day will be slightly faster than our other Guided walks. This is to ensure we complete the challenge in a timely manner. If you have any questions, please get in touch before you make the booking, and I’ll happily chat through any concerns or answer questions.
Book a private guide option – if you have a small group that you’d like to do the challenge with, maybe it’s a charity event or a group of friends, please get in touch with Becky to arrange a date of your choice (subject to my diary availability).
More information
There is car parking available for this walk or you can catch the train directly from Sheffield or Manchester to Hope (please check train times before booking (limited services on Sundays). Also, you may wish to consider overnight accommodation before or after the walk. (Transport/parking/accommodation costs are not included).
Meeting location: Hope, Derbyshire (exact meeting point confirmed in email)
Meeting time: 8 am for 8.15 am start
Group size: 4-10 people
Level: Challenging route and terrain (Hiking experience is essential – read details below)

What level of hiking experience is required?
*Important* – You’ll need to be able to walk continuously for 9-11 hours on uneven and rocky terrain and be comfortable with ascent and descent. Hillwalking experience is essential and you’ll need a good level of fitness.
Ideally, you should be regularly walking distances between 10-15 miles, this will mean you’ll have a good level of fitness and your legs will be comfortable with the hike (and more importantly you’ll enjoy it more!)
Within our confirmation email, we will suggest some Peak District training hikes that you can do before the event to fully prepare.
This hike is not suitable for beginners. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
You will also need suitable footwear and clothing for the walk. Please ask if unsure before booking. If Becky (qualified Mountain Leader) feels you’re unequipped or unable to complete the full hike we may need to decline and refund your booking. (Exceptional circumstances only.)

Confirmation email
Once you have booked your guided walk, you’ll receive a standard order confirmation email (from our ‘no-reply’ email address admin@peakdistrictwalks.net) followed by a second email with all the walk information (within 24-72 hours). Please check your spam/junk folder if you can’t see it in your Inbox or get in touch with Becky at peakdistrictwalkuk@gmail.com if you’ve not received it within these timescales.
