Peak District group guided walks + challenges

Are you looking for a guided group walk in the Peak District? Well, you’re in the right place.

In 2022, we launched our first Group Guided Walks. These walks were run alongside our ‘guided walks with an introduction to map reading’ which can be booked here. We will be continuing our Group Guided walks and would love to know any other routes you’d like to do.

Our walks will be lead by Becky Angell, qualified Mountain Leader who creates the routes on the website. You can read more about Becky below or check out her Instagram @beckythetraveller where you can see some of her recent adventures.

For some of our challenge walks Becky will be joined by Jessica Mather, Mountain Leader. You can read more about her below or follow Jess on Instagram @jessicamather_

If you are unable to join one of these dates but would like to find out when the next walks are, please join the mailing list. We will let you know when we have new dates available to book.

Thanks

Becky

Edale Skyline Challenge

New date coming soon

This is a tough challenge and not one for a beginner so bring your worn in hiking boots and get ready for some miles. On a clear day, the views are incredibly rewarding; however, you can have just as much fun on a grey day!

At 20 miles, you’ll need to get some training in for this walk but we can help offer some tips and walks to do in preparation for the walk.

Fancy an epic day out in the Peak District then come join us on this adventure.

Kinder Scout Walk (Edale)

New date coming soon

Setting off from the lovely village of Edale in the Derbyshire Peak District we head up to the Kinder Plateau and make our way around the edge via iconic rock formations known as the Woolpacks!

From the Kinder Plateau we’ll then walk back via a popular route known as Jacob’s Ladder complete with packhorse bridge at the bottom, then it’s back along a relatively flat section into Edale!

coming soon

If you’re unable to make these Guided Walks but are still interested in joining a future walk, pop your details below and we will email you when the next dates are added.

about the group walks

Our Group Guided Walks will vary in length depending on the route and terrain, please read specific details for each walk to decide which is suitable for you.

The group size will vary between 5-20 people, depending on the walk route. We will have two guides for the larger groups.

Generally the pace of the walk will allow time for plenty of photo stops, with the exception of the ‘Edale Skyline challenge’.  The idea is it’s a day you can spend in the beautiful Peak District where you can enjoy being outside, admire the scenery and socialise with a small group.

I will happily share my love of different flora and fauna (Bell Heather, Star Moss or Pixie-Cup Lichen) on the route, as well as point out the surrounding hills and landscapes.

You will also need suitable hiking footwear and clothing for the walk. See our suggested kit list below. Please ask if unsure before booking.

what to bring + wear?

For our ‘Guided Walks’, you’ll be responsible for wearing suitable hiking footwear, clothing and also carrying your own personal items, including food and water on the walk.

Here’s a suggested list of what to wear and bring on your guided walk*. Please get in touch prior to the walk with any questions.

Hiking kit list

  • Backpack to carry your items in (20-30 litres)
  • Waterproof jacket (essential) + waterproof trousers (optional)
  • Warm jacket/mid layer
  • Hat + gloves
  • Food (lunch + snacks) + water bottle/flask in cooler months
  • Personal medication
  • Suncream + sunglasses (depending on weather)
  • Cash for car parking

Read our detailed guide on what to pack for a day hike here.

What to wear?

  • Hiking shoes or hiking boots (no fashion trainers)
  • Hiking socks
  • T-shirt or long-sleeved base layer (not cotton)
  • Mid layer/warmer jacket
  • Waterproof jacket (you’ll either be wearing or it’ll be in your bag!)
  • Waterproof trousers (optional but good if it’s a wet day)
  • Shorts/leggings or hiking trousers (no jeans)

*Please note if our qualified Mountain Leaders feel you don’t have suitable clothing for the walks you’ve booked, for example, no waterproof jacket (on a rainy day) or footwear that could cause you to slip you might be unable to join the walk. This is for yours and the group’s safety on the hills.
