Peak District walks - badges
We are currently designing some lovely Peak District sew-on badges, perfect for backpacks, clothes, blankets, cushions or wherever else you want to put them.
It will be a great way to keep track of all the awesome walks you’ve done and places you’ve visited in the Peak District National Park.
The badges will make wonderful presents for both adults and children or you can simply treat yourself.
One of the ideas is that you can encourage kids to get more excited about walking and exploring the Peak District by collecting the badges. Plus it’s ideal to get them to learn a new skill – sewing!
The badges will be designed on iconic Peak District walks and locations by Laura from Laura Hodgkinson Creative.
Check back soon to see which badge will be launched first (hint it might be inspired by one of the pictures below).
raising funds for charity
Our badges will not only make great gifts but a percentage of the profit for EVERY badge will also go to charity. The idea is to give something back to the volunteers who are there to take care of us if we even have an accident on the hills or out walking. There are seven Mountain Rescue team that covers the Peak District (Edale, Derby, Buxton, Kinder, Glossop, Oldham and Woodhead)
However, since Edale is one of the most popular places to start a walk in the UK and that also means that the local mountain rescue team are one of the busiest teams in the UK, which is why I’ve chosen Edale Mountain Rescue Team to raise funds for.
Edale Mountain Rescue is a registered charity (no. 1138626). The team of volunteers go out on emergency calls in the Peak District at all times of day covering a wide area, including Kinder Scout, Mam Tor but also places further south like Chee Dale and Padley Gorge so they are kept very busy.
I know that the sale of these badges will only donate a small amount but the idea is that the badges will create conversations, therefore increase the knowledge of Edale Mountain Rescue Team and the great job that they do. If you’d rather make a direct donation then you can do that via their Just Giving page.
be the first to get a badge
There’s some work to do behind the scenes, I’m busy getting the first badge designed, then I need research into the best (and environmentally-friendly) packaging options). Please get in touch if you can help.
To order the badges I need to request in bulk, to keep the costs low (ie a great profit for charity) I’d like to order for the biggest number of badges to meet demand but it would help if I knew how many people were interested.
Does that all make sense? Are you interested in buying one of the badges when they first come on sale?
Simply pop your details below and you’ll be the first to know when they are on sale. Please note this doesn’t mean you have to buy one (obviously that would be amazing if you did!)
Do you have any more questions? Please get in touch via email if you do.
